Salvia Divinorum is known for its very strong effects, comparable to those of LSD. The active ingredients in this plant are Salvinorin A and Salvinorin B. Salvinorin A is the most potent psychedelic substance found in nature, and with proper dosage, the effect can vary from a subtle stoned feeling to full-blown psychedelic trips.
The plant itself originates from Mexico, where it can be found in shady, moist areas of the Mazatec Mountains. For thousands of years, this plant has been used by Mazatec medicine men during religious rituals. Some describe the effects as spiritual and pleasant, while others experience almost nothing or experience a very intense effect. Salvia Divinorum is legally available in several countries, including the Netherlands, and is, of course, readily available here at Puff Puff Palace.
Using Salvia Divinorum
The traditional way to use salvia is to chew the leaves and then hold them under the tongue for 15–20 minutes. Then you spit it out. This isn't the most effective method, and usually requires 8–20 leaves. Because of this, the initial effects take longer to kick in, about 20 minutes.
We recommend vaping this herb with a vaporizer, we offer a wide range of herbal vaporizers, here at Puff Puff Palace. Heat 0.5g (a large leaf) to 250°C. This method produces a very rapid onset of effects: 30–180 seconds.
Since Salvinorin A has a very strong psychedelic effect, it's not advisable to start with large doses. Its effects will also vary from person to person. For these reasons, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with the plant and understand its effects on you. Too high a dose can cause such an intense trip that you lose track of who or where you are. So start with a small dose of, for example, 0.1–0.5 grams. Using 2 or more grams is strongly discouraged, especially in the beginning.
Dosage and Effects
Because the effects of using Salvia Divinorum vary from person to person, it's difficult to give an accurate dosage. However, the S.A.L.V.I.A. scale is a good guide and indicates the effects of taking a certain number of grams of Salvinorin A.
Level 1 Stoned: When you use 0.1–0.5 grams, you will experience effects similar to marijuana, including the familiar fits of laughter. The experience is therefore very subtle and, for some, it may feel as if nothing is happening.
Level 2 Thinking Differently: When you use 0.3–1 gram, your thoughts will change and you will find music, colors, and objects more beautiful. Laughter fits are also common, as is poor short-term memory.
Level 3 LSD: When using 0.5–1.5 grams, you will experience vivid hallucinations, such as geometric figures when your eyes are closed and moving patterns on the wallpaper.
Level 4 Flying: When using 1–2 grams, you have reached the level the witch doctors are looking for. You "fly," as it were, through different dimensions and can completely forget reality. Witch doctors believe you are then transported to other worlds where you can learn about the past, present, and future.
Level 5 Loss of Identity: When using between 1 and 2.5 grams, you will feel as if you are merging with, for example, the couch you are sitting on or your entire surroundings. You forget who or what you are and become one with the place you are in at that moment. For some, this can have an ecstatic effect, while for others it can be quite frightening.
Level 6 Amnesia: If you reach this level, you have used more than 2-3 grams and have essentially gone too far. Because you don't know where you are, this is very dangerous; you lose your memory, can lose consciousness, and sleepwalking is also common.
Side Effects
Few real side effects are known from using Salvinorin A. In a small number of cases, you may experience diarrhea, headaches, or bloating.

Safety
With Salvia Divinorum, it is better to take a smaller dose than a larger one. If you're just starting to use this plant, always ask for a sober person to sit with you. When you use Salvia, the effects will wear off quite quickly, and you'll feel normal again after 10 to 20 minutes.
